Credit Card Charges

Required Notification of Credit Card Charges

Section 2807-k of the New York State Public Health Law was amended.  Four Seasons Pediatrics and all medical offices are required to notify you of the following:

No hospital or health care provider shall require credit card pre-authorization or require you to have a credit card on file prior to rendering emergency or necessary medical services, though you can voluntarily have one on file.

Each time a credit card is used to pay for services, you should be aware of the risks of paying for medical services with a credit card; including:

  1. Medical bills paid by credit card are no longer considered medical debt.

  2. By paying with a credit card, you are forgoing federal and state protections around medical debt.

  3. This includes forgoing protections against:

    1. wage garnishment and property liens

    2. reporting medical debt to credit bureaus

    3. limitations on interest rates

By presenting your credit card in the office, or using it to pay online, you acknowledge these risks and agree to pay with a credit card.  Click I Agree to proceed with payment.
