Tips for children:
When the bus approaches, stand at least five feet away from the curb. Line up away from the street.
Wait until the bus stops, the door opens, and the driver indicates it is ok to step onto the bus.
When crossing the street in front of the bus, walk along the edge of the road until you are at least ten feet in front of the bus so that the driver can see you.
Be sure that you can see the driver and that the driver can see you.
Use the handrails in the bus to avoid falls.
When getting off the bus be sure that clothing with drawstrings and book bags with straps do not get caught in the handrail or doors.
Never walk behind the bus!
Walk at least five feet away from the side of the bus.
Keep your head and hands inside the bus if windows are open.
If you drop something near the bus, be sure to tell the bus driver. Never try to pick it up first because the driver may not be able to see you.
